1) My personal pursuit of medicine throughout my undergraduate career – This portion of opinion pieces will revolve around my volunteer, charity and research work. Anything else related to my experiences within a health care system will also apply to this subject. I should also point out that, although the aforementioned are non-curricular activities, I will also involve events related to my school subjects, and will discuss any medical/health books that I read.
2) The latest medical news – I’d like to begin forming the habit of being in the know regarding medical news, as this will be important for interviews once I reach that point. Although an extensive background of knowledge is not necessary, it is good to be able to make references to current health issues in order to strengthen my interview and increase my overall chances of being offered admission. By writing about current issues monthly, I will have already begun the process of keeping up with this specific stream of news.
3) Life experiences – This does not include any experiences of mine derived from activities mentioned in the first point. My life experiences that relate to my medical pursuit in any other way will be included (i.e. maintaining a relationship along with sustaining high grades).
